Sealant And Joints:

Introduction:

Sealants & joints is a polymer-based gasket that is used to plug and protect joints between two substrates in building and construction design applications. It is used to seal seams, gaps, and openings between two or more substrates in order to keep out environmental factors that could cause corrosion. It’s made to keep the edges of concrete and clay tiles from corroding.

Where Sealants & Joints used:

Sealants are utilised on sidewalks, pavements, airline runways, plazas, balconies, terraces, industrial floors, and swimming pool floors in residential and light commercial applications to handle structural and thermal changes. Joint sealants are designed based on the substrates used to create the joints. It comes in two forms: prefabricated and liquid-applied. When making the sealant, aesthetics must also be taken into account.

To survive the types of joints, physical, chemical, and durability qualities are essential for a long-lasting sealing. The optimal joint sealant will be determined by the system’s temperature and kind of junction (movable or static). Latex, butyls, and acrylic, polysulfide, hybrid polyurethanes, silicones, urethane, and advanced sealants are among the polymers employed (factory preformed)

properties required to increase the performance of the  sealant & joints include:

  • UV-resistant
  • Non-chalking, non-staining and self-cleaning
  • Resists penetration and abrasion
  • Flexibility when exposed to weather and aging
  • Excellent resistance to physical and chemical reactions
  • Quick curing and water-tolerant
